Unexpected vegetarian and gluten intolerant dinner guest.

No time to shop for our guest so I’ll just have to be a bit inventive with with what’s available in the fridge and cupboard. Not forgetting it’s 37 degrees outside at the moment. Anyway I made my three favourites, spicy couscous with roasted summer vegetables, buffalo mozzarella and rocket, traditional Greek salad and a lentil, peppers, olives, goats…

I need food !!!

God I hate dieting, it’s crap, nearly as bad as stopping smoking, which is exactly what I did 8 months ago, hence the diet. Honestly, I’ve spent the last week with that ciggie sitting smugly on my left shoulder saying “go on Tan just one it’ll speed up your metabolism and then you’ll lose that…

My Greek favourites.

Greek pasta and lamb shanks accompanied  with Milos greens, actually, I had to use Swiss chard instead, pretty  much  the  same  family. I could eat this everyday, given the chance, in fact that’s what we’ve being doing since Saturday, Steve finished it off yesterday lunchtime for his lunch. I always steam the greens then add…

Pasties

Hi everyone. This post is for all those homesick cornish folk,  who dream of a proper Cornish Pasty, but are just too far away from the homeland to indulge. The only thing to do is to make sure that your Yorkshire wife has had pasty making lessons, preferably from a real Cornish granny or mum…

Bao or baozi

Mutti

Curry breakfast.

I love the way that family traditions become more and more deeply rooted as the years go by. One of our favourites is the famous Curry Breakfast, a great way to pass a wet and windy, bank holiday .

Meringues,Victoria Sponges and …..

Totally baked out for today , only kidding I love it. Meringues this morning, Victoria sponges at lunchtime and have just taken the Almond and orange cake out of the oven. I may just attack the crumble mix this evening, after swimming, then keep it in the freezer until Saturday. You may be wondering,  why…

Oysters, oysters and more oysters

I first met the youngsters a couple of years ago, when they opened cabane no. 30, in the port. I was impressed to see that their dedication, hard work, and passion for oyster growing has made their business a success. There door is always open, and when they’re out on the Bassin tending the…

If you haven’t got one !

You’ve probably all got one and I’m just living in the dark ages, but our new 2 and a half litre pressure cooker has really impressed us. We’ve cooked happily for years with a big pressure cooker, but baby pressure cooker has loads of advantages. Firstly, easy to make smaller quantities for 2. We’re convinced…
